The Balls Falls gorge is a familiar place. My wife grew up a stone's throw away, and we have hiked here regularly with and without kids. Every once in a while the familiar takes on a wonderful hue.

This is really just a snapshot. I turned around while walking along the western shore of Cape Breton Island, saw and shot. But now this picture is my desktop background. I love the softness of the colours and textures, but mostly I am drawn in by the boardwalk that winds in and back out.
